Integrative Psychiatry- A Proven Leader in TMS

Since 2010, Integrative Psychiatry has been the region’s premier center for patient care, research, and training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Hundreds of our patients have achieved remission from their treatment-resistant depression with TMS.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a non-invasive, FDA approved treatment for depressed patients who have not received adequate benefit from antidepressants. It can also be used in a variety of other brain conditions.

TMS uses highly focused, pulsed magnetic stimulation to restore normal brain function. TMS is well-tolerated, with few adverse effects. Patients remain fully awake during the treatment sessions, and are able to resume their daily activities immediately.

TMS is:

  • Non-invasive, meaning that it does not involve surgery. It does not require any anesthesia or sedation, as the patient remains awake and alert during the treatment.
  • Non-systemic, meaning that the treatment is localized to only your brain. There is nothing circulating in the blood stream and throughout the body.

The typical treatment course consists of at least 5 treatments per week over a 4–6-week period, for an average of 30 – 40 total treatments. Each treatment session lasts approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on what the doctor determines is the correct protocol.

The treatment is applied over areas of the brain that are not working as they should, and causing symptoms. The magnetic pulses work like a personal trainer for your brain and activates cells that result in the improvement of your health.

When studied over the course of a year:

  • 1 in 2 TMS patients experienced significant improvement in their depression symptoms.
  • 1 in 3 experienced complete remission from their depression symptoms.
